a Window of Opportunity for Nanotechnology Development
»What are Smart Grids™ ?
Smart Grids™ are a patent-pending revolutionary platform for analytical characterization and development of new nanomaterials, nanosystems, bionanotechnology, and engineered interfaces. For the first time, this cross-disciplinary tool integrates the combined capabilities of electron microscopy, surface science, and electronic and optical interrogation in a single sample. Smart Grids™ provide the most comprehensive understanding of the structural, chemical, and functional characteristics of nanomaterials and interfaces.

Smart Grids™ are produced from thin silicon wafers and have electron-transparent SiO2 windows. Unlike other membrane TEM grids, these grids are not simply a passive support for structural characterization, but also can serve as an active platform for research involving the manipulation of surface-driven interactions. These grids are expected to accelerate research and development for materials scientists, chemists, surface scientists, and biotechnologists alike.
